Test your knowledge here… Fact of Myth?
Only your cheeks flush with Rosacea- MYTH
Rosacea can be around the eyes (ocular), on the nose (rhinophyma), or affect the neck, chest, scalp, and ears.
The cause of Rosacea is unknown- FACT
Although it is unknown, research shows that facial redness is likely linked to vascular and inflammatory conditions. In addition to these factors, another contributor to rosacea is the presence of microscopic mites.
Acne and Rosacea are the same thing- MYTH
Fact is they are two completely different skin conditions. Although rosacea can cause pimples that look like acne, it is not the same. You can have rosacea without having pimples.
Coffee and Caffeine are the cause of Rosacea flare ups- MYTH
Although many blame coffee and caffeine for a flare, research has shown that it is the thermal heat of the beverages that can cause the flare up instead of the coffee/caffeine.
Rosacea presents itself in different ways for different individuals- FACT
Rosacea patients can exhibit varying levels of severity of symptoms over different areas of the face. Patients have reported that the disorder actually began with a red spot or patch on one cheek or another part of the face, and then spread to other areas. On the other hand, other patients exhibit similar symptoms on both sides of their faces.
