Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy: Testosterone Pellets

For both men and women, hormones naturally decrease with age which can result in problematic symptoms such as weight gain, loss of energy, loss of mental clarity, irritability, hot flashes, night sweats and loss of libido. With advancements in Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT), you now have a choice to retake control of both your body and mind.

The major hormonal levels that BHRT can optimize include estrogen, testosterone, DHEA, progesterone, and thyroid.

Therapy

Therapy starts with a consultation in which we will review your personal and family history and answer all your questions. We will review the results of your blood test with you and treatment options. If you are a candidate for therapy we will insert between 1-2 (for women) and 2-10 (for men) small pellets, each the size of a grain of rice, under your skin using an instrument called a trocar. The pellets will slowly release Bio-Identical Testosterone over the course of about 3 to 6 months.

Following insertion of the pellets under the skin near your buttock, you may experience some tenderness at the implantation site. Any discomfort should resolve within 24 hours. As the pellets release the hormones, you may experience improvement in symptoms in as little as 48 hours to 2 weeks after insertion.

You will have routine follow up appointments and blood tests to monitor your progress and testosterone levels.
