A new word you’re more familiar with than you’d like to be? Mask Acne, more commonly known as “Maskne,” is the term for acne formingfrom wearing a mask. A new phenomenon to most, ‘maskne’ is a problem we all wish we didn’t have! But, its real and the Medical Providers at La Chelé are here to help.

So now you’re telling me I have to wear a mask, and its going to make my skin breakout?

These breakouts can be caused by a few things. If you are reusing the same mask over and over again, bacteria can build up and clog your pores. The mouth is one of the, unfortunately, most bacteria-ridden areas in the body. So, talking into a mask is just trapping the bacteria in the enclosed area.

La Chelé can help!

You are not alone-even the La Chelletes are experiencing ‘maskne.’ We are always here to make you feel your absolute best, and that still goes during a pandemic. We are sharing our secrets to keeping your skin clear, even under your mask.

Skincare Routine:

Now more than ever, it is so important to use all of your skincare products and stick to your skincare routine! We often times recommend a minimum of vitamin c, eye cream, moisturizer and prescriptive topicals such as Retin-A. At La Chelé, we can compound prescriptive antibiotics such as benzoyl peroxide and tretinoin. This will help keep your skin nourished and help shed the bacteria-causing debris that could be clogging your pores and causing ‘maskne.’

We offer complimentary consultations to create a customized skincare plan for you, but some common treatments for ridding of acne and keeping your skin clear are the Hydrafacial, Microdermabrasion, Neoclear, Sebacia, and LED Light Therapy.

Hydrafacial:

Cleanse, peel, extract, and hydrate your skin with Hydrafacial treatment. This vortex-fusion delivery system is unlike any other to give you a good clean-out and will literally suck the blackheads right out of your pores! We also will include a LED light treatment, which is known to kill acne-causing bacteria.

Microdermabrasion:

A microdermabrasion will help get rid of oil, dirt, and dead skin cells, so that the pores can open. Opening clogged pores is a great way to treat acne, and also helps you avoid future breakouts. Another benefit of a microdermabrasion is that it will help prevent acne scarring by softening the top layer of skin and reducing the appearance of scars with multiple treatments.

Neoclear:

Acne is a common condition across both youths and adults characterized by sebaceous glands being obstructed by bacteria. This causes blemishes on the skin and can lead to scarring if not treated properly. Until recently, patients could only be treated by topical or oral medications. Now, the NeoClear laser can result in substantial improvement for the treatment of acne and acne scars. The laser’s energy effectively destroys the bacteria, while restoring collagen to damaged skin. La Chelé is offering $50 off this treatment for the months of August and September!

Sebacia:

This treatment is the new gold-standard when it comes to acne treatments! During this treatment, gold microparticles are applied and massaged into to the skin. The gold microparticles will enter via the pores of the face, followed by application of heat from a Nd:YAG laser, which will reduce oil production directly in the sebaceous gland, resulting in less breakouts.

LED Lights:

Come and sit under our medical full-face LightStim machine. Red LED Light combines advanced red and infrared lights providing a deeper wavelength that reaches down into the dermis to stimulate anti-aging benefits such as collagen and elastin stimulation. The blue lights target acne and are characterized by their shorter wavelength which penetrates down to the sebaceous glands in the skin killing the bacteria from the inside out. When combining these two powerful wavelengths of lights together, oxygen circulation increases reducing inflammation and redness while clearing existing breakouts and preventing future flare-ups.

We offer a wide variety of treatments and products to treat acne and ‘maskne.’ We recommend booking a complimentary consultation to have one of our Medical Providers give you a full evaluation to see which treatment option is best for you.
