What is in lip filler?
When it comes to dermal fillers in the lip, all products utilized at La Chelé are hyaluronic acid. It is important to note that hyaluronic acid is produced naturally in your body and is completely reversible.
What types of filler do you carry?
At La Chelé we carry Juvéderm, Restylane and Teoxane hyaluronic acid fillers. Each type of filler has different and important properties, this is based off of the study of rheology, which our experienced injectors are highly trained in. One of these injectors will choose the product best suited for you.
How long can I expect my lip filler results to last?
The duration of hyaluronic acid fillers is typically about 6-12 months. There are many factors which alter the duration of dermal fillers including: age, metabolism, exercise, smoking, etc. The mouth is very dynamic, it is constantly moving while you: talk, laugh, chew, this all degrades filler with time.
Are there risks with lip filler?
Yes, there are risks with dermal fillers as there are with performing any procedure. Our injectors at La Chelé are highly trained and safety is our number one priority. We are proud to be recognized in the top 1% of injectable practices in the United States. Our injectors are constantly training and up to date on the latest techniques. They have dedicated themselves solely to the practice of aesthetic medicine. As aforementioned, hyaluronic acid fillers are completely reversible, they are temporary and degrade over time. Vascular occlusion is possible, but if caught early it can be reversed. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in your body, for this reason allergic reactions are very rare. La Chelé is a Silicone-Free facility.
Can I consult and treat the same day?
Absolutely! You will receive a full consultation from one of our medical providers and treatment same day if you wish to do so. When injecting dermal filler, there is always a risk of swelling or bruising. With that being said, we recommend you plan for two weeks downtime.
If you have a history of cold sores, we ask that you promptly make your injector aware. When injecting in the lips, we are always concerned about the possibility of inciting a break out. We are happy to send an antiviral to your pharmacy for you to prevent this from happening.
Will my lip filler procedure be painful?
With any procedure at La Chelé, our goal is your comfort and that you have an enjoyable experience. When injecting lip filler, we use a topical numbing agent to anesthetize the area. With years of experience, we have many tools in our tool belt to keep you comfortable and relaxed during your treatment.
Is there downtime after lip filler?
Lips are incredibly vascular, meaning they are filled with blood vessels. When filling the lips, inevitably there is the chance of bruising and swelling, this is normal. We like you to plan for this downtime and ask you have no special events planned for two weeks after dermal filler.
There are a few steps you can take at home to minimize bruising, you can:

After lip filler you can expect to be bruised and swollen. It is normal to feel lumps and bumps for a few weeks. Remember, your lips were poked with a needle, your tissue needs some time to heal!
What if I dislike my lip filler results?
Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with an enzyme that we carry in our office. We do recommend waiting to dissolve filler until it has settled, which takes about four to six weeks’ time.
What happens if I never fill my lips again?
Your lips will return back to your pre-treated state should you choose to not fill them again in the future.
Why don’t my lips look the same as my friend’s?
It is important to remember that everyone’s genetics are different and therefore no two set of lips are the same. Think of lip filler as a journey, most of our patients require several sessions to achieve their lip goals.
I have very small/no lips, can I get big lips?
Bigger lips can be attained, but for the most natural results, taking it slow is advised. FDA studies are done with 2.5 mL of filler, which is two and a half syringes. We only Place one mL at a time, but will gradually add another mL one month apart until desired results are attained.
