What is AviClear, and how does it work?

AviClear is the first FDA-cleared energy device designed to treat mild, moderate, and severe acne. This groundbreaking treatment uses a revolutionary 1726 nm wavelength, making it safe and effective for all skin types.

By selectively targeting and reducing the activity of the sebaceous glands, AviClear addresses acne at its source, offering long-term results without the need for prescription medications. This advanced technology is a game-changer in acne care, providing a safe and non-invasive solution for clearer skin.

Is AviClear effective for treating different types of acne?

AviClear can treat many types of acne, including:

Cystic Acne: Deep, pus-filled pimples that can form either on the surface or beneath the skin. These breakouts are often painful and tend to persist longer than other types of acne.

Inflammatory Acne: Acne that causes red, swollen blemishes such as pustules, nodules, and cysts, leading to more severe and irritating breakouts.

Hormonal Acne: Breakouts caused by hormonal fluctuations, which can occur at any stage of adulthood, including during perimenopause and postmenopausal, making it a common issue throughout life.

Whiteheads: Small, clogged pores that appear as tiny, white or flesh-colored bumps on the skin’s surface.

Who is a good candidate for AviClear treatment?

A good candidate for AviClear treatment is a healthy individual who:

  • Suffers from any form of acne, whether mild, moderate, or severe.
  • Has any skin tone, as AviClear is safe and effective for all skin tones and age groups.
  • Has not seen success with other acne treatments and is looking for a better solution.
  • Prefers a non-medication approach and wants to avoid taking oral prescriptions.
  • Struggles with recurring acne and is seeking to reduce both the frequency and severity of breakouts.

Is AviClear a safe option for teenagers with acne?

Yes! Unlike traditional acne treatments, AviClear innovative approach offers a non-pharmaceutical solution tailored specifically for teenage skin. AviClear makes advanced acne treatment more accessible, empowering teens to take control of their skin and achieve a clearer, healthier complexion!

 AviClear vs. Accutane

The main difference between AviClear and Accutane is in their side effects. Accutane oral prescription (isotretinoin) can cause side effects like dry skin, lips, nose, and eyes, as well as mild rashes, itching, headaches, and muscle pain. In contrast, AviClear has much milder side effects, usually limited to some tenderness and redness, which clear up within a few days.

Although both Accutane and AviClear can be very efficient in reducing acne and keeping it under control, if you want to bypass the numerous side effects and potential discomfort on the body, AviClear is the better acne solution!

What should I expect during an AviClear treatment session?

Prior to the procedure, it’s important to limit sun exposure to prevent skin damage and arrive with freshly cleansed skin to ensure optimal results.

During the procedure, your medical provider will give you protective eyewear to shield your eyes from the laser. The treatment is designed to be comfortable, with most patients experiencing a light snapping sensation on the skin. A built-in cooling system ensures that you remain comfortable throughout the process.

Post-procedure, it’s common to experience mild redness, swelling, or a temporary acne flare-up as part of the skin’s healing process. There is data recommending taking  Zyrtec or Allegra-24 for one-week post-Aviclear to reduce many side effects.  It’s also essential to apply SPF daily after the treatment. We recommend our La Chele BB Cream or the Elta MD sunblock.  Additionally, avoid excessive sun exposure, tanning beds (always), and self-tanning products for at least 2-4 weeks to protect your skin and support the healing process.

How many AviClear sessions are needed to see improvement?

Aviclear was clinically studied as a series of three AviClear treatments, each spaced approximately one month apart.

How soon can I see results from AviClear acne treatment?

The results you see may depend on the severity of your acne. Full improvement is typically observed three months after the final treatment, allowing the skin to fully respond to the therapy. This approach ensures a gradual yet effective reduction in acne, providing long-lasting results!

What are the possible side effects of AviClear?

AviClear is a laser treatment with minimal side effects, though some patients may experience the following:

  • Redness and swelling: Mild redness and swelling at the treatment site is common but typically subsides within a few hours to a couple of days.
  • Acne flare-up: A short-term flare-up may occur 1-2 weeks after treatment as the sebaceous glands respond to the mild disruption caused by the procedure. This is a normal part of the healing process.
  • Skin sensitivity: The skin may be more sensitive to sun exposure following treatment, so it’s important to use proper sun protection.
  • Temporary pigmentation changes: In rare cases, patients might experience temporary pigmentation changes, such as darkening (hyperpigmentation) or lightening (hypopigmentation) in the treated areas.
