Laser Hair Reduction for Men and Women
Looking for laser hair reduction in Newtown, PA, or New Hope, PA? Traditional hair reduction methods such as shaving, waxing, electrolysis, and tweezing are effective temporary hair removal techniques; however, laser hair still stands as the top treatment for as much hair reduction as possible. Treatment results may vary from person to person depending upon many genetic factors. Using the latest technology available, our medical aestheticians can lessen unwanted hair from virtually any part of your body with unparalleled speed, safety, and efficacy. Each of our lasers is specific to certain skin types and colors of hair, allowing us to treat the full spectrum of unique skin types more effectively than other laser centers. It is important to note that hair grows in cycles and only about one-third of a patient’s hair is visible above the skin at any time. Therefore, it is recommended that patients undergo a series of multiple treatments, spaced several weeks apart, for optimal hair clearance.
How does laser hair reduction work?
The INMODE Triton Laser has multi-wavelength hair reduction energies that work synergistically to treat a wide range of hair reduction concerns. During treatment, laser beams of the most advanced hair reduction wavelengths (Diode, Alexandrite, or NdYag) pass through the skin targeting the hair follicles. This penetrating energy is absorbed by the hair, which is then transferred into heat, damaging the stem cells to prevent future hair growth. Our Triton laser is the first and only FDA cleared device to have simultaneous firing of multiple wavelengths on a hair reduction device, which allows us to safely treat all skin types. Our advanced laser technicians safely tailor hair reduction treatments to meet the needs of your unique skin type, ethnicity and lifestyle.
We are also now offering the Candela GentleMax Pro at certain La Chele locations, another industry leader when it comes to laser hair reduction! It’s also safe for all skin types and a highly recommended treatment by our Medical Aestheticians.
Is laser hair reduction right for me?
Laser hair reduction is the gold standard for both men and women looking to reduce the amount of unwanted hair from virtually any area of the body. Not only will it allow you the freedom to be hair-free without shaving, waxing or tweezing, it can also greatly reduce the occurrence of ingrown hairs. However, it is important to note that laser hair reduction is not effective for individuals with light blond, grey, red or silver hair. The ideal laser hair reduction candidate has light, untanned skin, and dark, coarse hair. Because our goal is to treat you safely yet effectively, we highly recommend that you avoid sun exposure and the use of self-tanning products prior to your treatment.

What does it feel like?
Most patients would describe laser hair reduction as mildly uncomfortable, with a sensation similar to that of a warm snapping rubber band at times. We encourage our patients to arrive approximately 20 minutes prior to their scheduled treatment time so that, if needed – we can apply a topical numbing agent to the area being treated. However, some patients do not need a numbing agent and feel laser hair reduction is quite tolerable.
How many treatments will I need?
It is important to note that hair grows in cycles and that hairs in the active growth phase respond better to laser treatments. At any given time, your hair is in various stages of growth. Optimal clearance depends on several variables, including hair density, color and hormonal factors; therefore, the number of treatments needed will vary. In some instances, laser hair reduction can be a lifelong commitment. With each hair reduction treatment, patients can expect to notice a progressive lessening in the amount of hair in the area. It is important to consider that patient compliance can alter results.
How long should my hair be prior to a treatment?
We ask that you shave the area one day prior to being treated, as hair should be no more than one to two millimeters in length. The shorter your hair is, the safer and less painful the treatment will be. Tweezing, waxing or any other depilatory methods should be avoided for at least two weeks prior to laser hair reduction and should not be performed at all during the course of your treatments.
Are there any possible side effects?
Most common side effects experienced after a laser hair reduction session are erythema (redness) and follicular edema (swelling) at the treatment site – which may last for a few hours. The application of ice or a cold compress will reduce the discomfort and swelling and you may also use an oral, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, such as acetaminophen.
As with any laser or light-based treatment, there is a rare risk for hyperpigmentation (darkening of the skin), hypopigmentation (lightening of the skin), and burns. These risks are higher in those with darker or more tanned skin.
