Although most of our attention and energy go into taking good care of the skin on our face, the neck is an area of great concern for many.  Crepiness, horizontal necklace lines, prominent platysmal bands, fat accumulation and the dreaded turkey neck are all complaints we hear on a daily basis. So what is the best solution? While there may not be any treatment as effective as surgery, improving and maintaining a youthful neck is possible with the right treatments and products. Here are our expert tips on how to slow down the aging process and optimize the appearance of your neck.

 The Right Products

The neck is often overlooked but should not be neglected as part of your skincare regime. Because the neck ages differently than the face, moisturizers we use on our faces may not provide optimal benefits or anti-aging results for the neck. Noteworthy: the skin in this area is more sensitive than on the face so you should be conscious of the strength of your products.

Treatments

Our world of non-invasive treatments offers several options to treat the common complaints of an aging neck including injectables and lasers.

Botox

If you are plagued with prominent platysma bands, Botox injections may offer a solution for you. Botox works by relaxing the hyperactive platysma bands that are formed by having a more active platysma muscle. It’s important to note that Botox is not intended to treat horizontal neck lines that are primarily attributed to a decline in skin elasticity and loss of volume

Fillers

The use of dermal fillers, such as Restylane® Silk, may also provide mild improvements in fine lines and wrinkles in the neck.

Ultherapy®

Our long-standing best lifter is Ultherapy®,  a non-surgical, non-invasive procedure for the face, neck and décolletage that uses ultrasound and the body’s own natural healing process to lift, tone, and tighten loose skin. Results from Ultherapy® will appear gradually over the course three to six months following your treatment. While this technology does not duplicate the results of surgery, Ultherapy® has proven to be an inviting alternative for those who are not yet ready to go under the knife.

Infini®

Infini® has shown to be very effective in targeting both texture and tightness. The combination of 49 microneedles, which penetrate at depths of up to 3.5mm, and high intensity focused radiofrequency packs a serious punch to improve the appearance of fine lines and re-chisel a sagging jawline. The best part? Radiofrequency and microneedling are both “colorblind” which means that treatments can be performed regardless of skin type, tan or time of the year.  A series of two to three treatments spaced about one month apart are typically recommended for optimal results and patients can expect a few days of downtime.
