DiamondGlow Vs. HydraFacial

What is HydraFacial?

HydraFacial is a treatment designed to maintain and restore you back to healthy skin. This a non-invasive treatment using a multi-step process that can quickly remove dead skin cells, and extract impurities all the while soaking the clean skin with cleansing, hydrating, and moisturizing boosters. The HydraFacial can be modified for all different skin types so each treatment can be customized to thin or aging skin, dry or oily skin, and any other conditions a patient might have.

HydraFacials are seen as a preventative treatment as they can help slow down the skin’s aging process and help delay the need for invasive procedures. HydraFacials can also be seen as an ideal treatment for preparing the skin for more invasive treatments including chemical peels, laser treatments, or surgery.

What is the DiamondGlow?

Similar to the HydraFacial, the DiamondGlow is also a non-invasive treatment, but mimics more of the microdermabrasion; coupling manual extractions and infusion of healing serums together to address numerous issues including fine lines, discoloration, acne, and scarring. DiamondGlow is customizable to the patient’s skin type or tone.

DiamondGlow, unlike the majority of other skin treatments, does not rely on chemical exfoliation, but rather a manual exfoliator that can be modified to a range of different diamond tip wands. After a deep and soothing exfoliation, the skin is then infused with one or more serums depending on the skin care needs. DiamondGlow treatments offer three-fold benefits for skin that makes you look brighter, healthier, and more youthful looking:

  1. Exfoliation: Six different patented diamond-studded wands available allowing the provider to choose the perfect level of exfoliation for the individual needs of every patient
  2. Extraction: A gentle suction unclogs and open pores while simultaneously shedding dead skin cells and other debris from the skin’s surface. After this deep clean, the skin is then treated with a custom serum.
  3. Infusion: The clean and open pores are infused with a SkinMedica serum that is specifically formulated to treat your particular skin concern (acne, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, or scarring).

What are the key differences between HydraFacial to DiamondGlow?

While both treatments can be beneficial and leave skin feeling brighter, smoother, and healthier there are some distinctions between the two:

  1. Exfoliation: While both offer an exfoliation, the methods differ. DiamondGlow uses a physical diamond-tipped exfoliator. This helps to resurface the skin so that fast acting medical grade serums can penetrate the skin deep into its underlying tissues. HydraFacial uses glycolic and salicylic acid for a chemical exfoliation. The HydraFacial offers a less aggressive exfoliation and instead of serums, it uses boosters that can be added on to your treatment at an additional cost.
  2. Goals: DiamondGlow is used for more of a corrective treatment resulting in a deep exfoliation, extraction, and cleansing. Serums are then applied to the fresh, new skin for greater effectiveness. It was designed to cleanse, exfoliate, extract, and hydrate while flushing away toxins and stimulating blood flow. HydraFacial is more appropriate for ongoing maintenance whereas it is more of a relaxed treatment intended for cosmetic, rather than clinical, purposes.

Another difference to point out is after each DiamondGlow treatment, they build upon the last treatment so your results continue to develop and improve. This helps you to enjoy long lasting results, rather than see them fade over a week.

  1. Unique Benefits: DiamondGlow’s level of customizable exfoliation makes it very useful for addressing sensitive skin around the eyes and mouth. As well as its unique approach to draining the lymphatic system. For a healthier, clearer completion the direction and length of the pressure applied help move toxins from the lymph nodes to be processed by the body. The DiamondGlow is also FDA approved to treat active acne, including cystic acne; and can be used on the neck to remove wrinkles and crepey skin.
