Rosacea

What is Rosacea?

Rosacea is a very common skin condition that is typically found in those with fair-skin between the ages of 30-50 years old. Rosacea causes redness on your nose, cheeks, chin and forehead. Some people may get little red bumps and pimples on these red areas which can become irritated and sore.  There are two main types of rosacea:

  1. Erythrotelangiectatic rosacea: Redness, flushing and broken blood vessels
  2. Papulopustular rosacea: Very similar to acne with red spots and small pustules. Often times patients may develop swelling on the nose, known as rhinophyma.
  3. Rosacea blepharitis: Characterized as red, swollen eyelids
  4. Phymatous rosacea: Redness and thickening of the skin on the nose.
