How does Zepbound work?

Activation of these receptors in the gastrointestinal tract causes slowing of gastric emptying and slowing of food transit through the intestines. Zepbound also improves the sensitivity of insulin, which helps to optimize blood sugars and decrease visceral fat stores.

The most common side effects of Zepbound include decreased appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation and abdominal pain. These potential side effects can be minimized by starting at a low dose and titrating the dose as tolerated by the patient.
How long does it take for Zepbound to start working?
Zepbound starts working within a few days of the first dose. Most patient feel appetite suppression within the first few days and achieve notable weight loss within the first few weeks.
How much does Zepbound cost?
The cost of Zepbound depends on insurance coverage. Most insurance companies require a prior-authorization to approve coverage for Zepbound. Insurance coverage qualifications generally include a BMI greater than / equal to 30 or greater than / equal to 27 with a weight-related medical condition. If you do not have coverage for Zepbound, your La Chele Weight Loss Provider can help to find the most economic way to pay for Zepbound out-of-pocket.
What are the benefits of taking Zepbound?
Zepbound has many health benefits including weight loss, treatment of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes, improvement of fatty liver, and prevention of cardiovascular disease.

What is the difference between all weight loss drugs?
Zepbound and Mounjaro (both Tirzepatide) are dual incretin peptide drugs activating GLP-1 and GIP receptors. Wegovy and Ozempic (both Semaglutide) are GLP-1 receptor agonists. Zepbound and Wegovy are indicated for the treatment of obesity and overweight status with weight-related medical conditions. Mounjaro and Ozempic are indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. There are several other non-incretin (peptide) weight loss medications available including Contrave (Bupropion + Naltrexone) and Qsymia (Phentermine + Topiramate).
Your La Chele provider will determine the most effective medication regimen for you.
